Tipp back on track with Sidney sweep

The Tippecanoe baseball team earned a pair of MVL victories last week as they traveled to Sidney for a pair of league contests. After their first game at Tipp was suspended due to rain, they traveled to Sidney where Tipp earned a 10-3 victory, then in their regularly scheduled game, the Red Devils again left no doubt with a 13-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Tipp led 4-0 early in their first game and never looked back, increasing their lead to seven runs before capping the scoring in the sixth inning.

The Red Devils plated two runs in the second to start the scoring when  Noah Fox doubled to lead things off and one out later, Ethan Harney singled before Carson Jackson drove in a run with a hit. Bradey Liskey then added another run with a sacrifice fly to give Tipp a 2-0 lead after two innings.

In the fourth, they struck with two outs. Singles from Danny Browarsky and Eli Kettel later led to runs when they came into score with two outs when Harney singled in both runners.

Sidney cut the lead in half before Tipp regained their momentum. In the fourth, Jackson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2 and Liskey brought home another run with a sacrifice and Tipp regained their four run lead.

Fox added to the lead with a two-run single in the fifth, and James Merry made it 9-2 before Tipp closed the scoring an inning later.

Harney and Fox each had three hits in the game for Tipp, while Davis pitched a complete game picking up the win.

Also last week, Tipp finished the sweep with their second win over Sidney. Jackson had three hits for Tipp to lead the attack, a game where eight different batters collected hits in the game.

Tipp scored four times to lead off the game, then scored three times each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to push their lead to 11, allowing the game to end with the run-rule.

Jackson pitched the victory, going four innings for Tipp and striking out seven.

*The Red Devils finished the week with their annual trip to Day Air Ballpark in downtown Dayton, hosting Bethel on Friday night. Tipp threw a four-hit shutout and cruised past the Bees 12-0 after putting the game away with a seven-run seventh inning.

Cayden McKinney led the offense with two hits while pitching the first six innings. The highlight for the Red Devils was an inside-the-park homerun from Harney in the seventh inning.

Tipp returns to action tonight at Butler for a big MVL contest, then on Friday they return the favor against Butler in their second matchup, 7:30 at Wright State.
