Tipp swimmers finish near top of MVL

The Tippecanoe girls swimming squad placed third overall in the MVL league meet last week, finishing with 281 points, falling behind the league champions from Troy and Butler who finished second. The Red Devils boys placed fourth overall with 200 points, as Troy edged Butler to capture the MVL title.

Opening the league meet was the girls 200 Medley Relay, with Tipp placing ninth overall as Brynn Buehler, Jocelyn Shelton, Izzy Poffenberger, and Linneyah Channel with a 2:30.30. The Tipp boys relay team placed third, swimming 1:52.18 led by Ridley Brenner, Ian Dunkle, Jaxen Anderson, and Julius Galbert.

Avery Anderson dominated the girls 200 Free, capturing the event with a time of 2:05.25, nearly five seconds ahead of her closest competitor, who happened to be her teammate Adelyn Deppen who swam 2:10.03. In the boys race, Jaxen Anderson finished second with a 1:53.05 with Dunkle finishing fourth with 1:57.60. 

Tipp swam well in the girls 200 IM placing second and third overall. Jackson was runner-up with 2:44.90 with Shelton placing third 2:46.39.

In the boys 50 Free, Galbert placed sixth overall swimming a time of 25.51.

Jackson came back in the girls 100 Butterfly and placed sixth with a 1:17.92 with Buehler landing seventh, swimming 1:23.04. In the boys 100 Butterfly, Dunkle finished fourth for Tipp with 57.51 and Brenner fifth with 1:00.92.

Emily Vore swam well in the girls 100 Free, placing fifth with a time of 1:03.48, with Shelton finishing seventh at 1:06.13. Galbert gave Tipp a top ten finish in the boys 100 Free, placing fourth with a 56.13. 

Anderson again put together a strong 500 Free, placing first overall with a 5:28.76 with Deppen third and her time of 5:48.87. On top of the boys 500 was Jaxen Anderson, bringing Tipp another win with a time of 5:00.36.

Swimming the 200 Free Relay and placing third was Tipp’s team of Vore, Deppen, Anderson and Jackson, as they completed the race in 1:49.32, as the top three were all within a second and a half. The boys from Tipp also finished third in the 200 Free Relay, as Brenner, Galbert, Anderson and Dunkle finished in 1:39.17.

Vore was eighth for Tipp in the girls 100 Backstroke (1:14.49), while Brenner was fourth for the boys 1:03.51. 

Tipp landed second in the girls 400 Relay in the final girls event of the day, as the usual four swam 4:04.62.
