Davis, Hook lead all-MVL girls soccer team
In a very competitive Miami Valley League girls soccer season that saw a four-way tie atop of the league standings. The Tippecanoe squad left their mark on the all-conference team, selected by the coaches in the MVL.
Two members of the Red Devils were named by the coaches to the first-team all-conference selection as 18 players were named to the top group.
Senior Kendall Davis landed among those players, as the Red Devil scored three goals on the season to go along with five assists, finishing her season with 11 points on the year, placing her seventh among all Red Devils this season.
Joining Davis on the first-team was a rising sophomore Maddie Hook, who finished with four points on the season.
Kendall and Maddie were both fully deserving of their first-team nomination this season,” Tipp coach Brent Palmer said. “Kendall has been the heartbeat of our team and a great leader for our young team. Beyond that, she is a tremendous competitor on the soccer field who helps us win on both sides of the ball.”
“Maddie in her second season has established herself as one of the best defensive players in the area. A total defender who is strong in the tackle, quick in recovery, and has great vision. She is a kind hearted leader and a role model for our team, even at her young age."
Other first-team all-conference girls soccer players included Carmella Decker, Olivia Groinic, Henna Gyen and Samantha Rosencranz all from Butler, Christina Brubaker and Avery Noll from Troy, Kensi Koester, Katie McKinney and Jada Shroyer all from Sidney, Kait Alting and Kyla Garber both from Fairborn, Alexis Burroughs from Piqua, Mila Lopez from Stebbins, Macie Wright from Xenia and Rachel Wright from Greenville.
Noll and Rosencranz shared the MVL Player of the Year honor while Greenville coach Anthony Salvera Damon was voted as the MVL Coach of the Year.
Two more members of the Red Devils landed on the second-team, including junior Julia Burgbacher and freshman Maryn Perrault.
The league had plenty of different teams represented on the second-team along with Tipp. Butler added three more players to the selections as Samantha Chapman, Zaina Gyan and Kandice Washburn all received the honor. Troy added two more to the team with Addilynn Buschure and Madison Wright. Sam Clark from Piqua was selected, as was the Xenia duo of Nadia Lewis and Serenity Tolbert. Jayda Lyons from Greenville earned a spot, along with Lauren McReynolds (Fairborn), Hayden McVety and Riley Randolph (Sidney) and Emily Simpson from West Carrollton.
Tipp also had four players named to the honorable mention group, and three of them are underclassmen. Junior Mady Turner is the only Tipp upperclassman named, while she is joined by sophomore Grace Fultz and freshmen Reagan Kettel and Ali Turner.
“It’s always exciting to see young players come in and make impacts on the field and then be recognized for that,” Palmer said of his underclassmen receiving recognition. “This season was certainly a great jumping block for a lot of our younger players and I’m looking forward to seeing what they build to in the future.”
