BREAKING: Caleb Flynn guilty on all counts in wife's murder

TROY - Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol resident and pastor, was convicted of multiple counts of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and destruction of evidence in the death of his wife Ashley. 

A Miami County jury deliberated for nearly three hours after  the state and defense gave closing arguments. 

Flynn was convicted of killing his wife Ashley while she slept in their Tipp City home on Feb. 16. Flynn told investigators an intruder broke into the home and shot her to death while she was in bed. 

He was convicted of aggravated murder, three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and three counts of tampering with evidence. 

Flynn will be sentenced on Monday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. 

Short case timeline

• Feb. 16: Police were called to the Flynn residence in the 900 block of Cunningham Court after a report of a burglary and a woman shot in the head. Ashley Flynn, 37, was found dead.

• Feb. 19: Caleb Flynn was arrested and booked into the Miami County Jail on preliminary murder, felonious-assault and evidence-tampering allegations.

• March 18: A Miami County grand jury indicted Flynn on 11 counts, including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

• March 19: Flynn entered a not-guilty plea in Miami County Common Pleas Court; his bond was set at $3.5 million.

• Sept. 18: Trial proceedings began with opening statements.

• Sept. 29: Following closing arguments and about two hours of deliberations, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts.
