Tipp City Manager’s Weekly Update for 7/29
Please see the highlights from this past week along with some upcoming items that will impact the City in the coming weeks.
State Route 571 Road Closure- As a reminder, the Ohio Department of Transportation’s closure of State Route 571 began this week. The roadway is closed between County Road 25A and Peters Road and is expected to remain closed through July 31.
This week, a significant number of motorists used Kerr Road as an alternate route, and the City received several complaints regarding the condition of the roadway. City crews have completed temporary maintenance to improve the road during the closure. The City is also working with Monroe Township on a joint grant application seeking funding to resurface Kerr Road.
Boards & Commissions Training- This week, the City hosted a special training session for our boards and commissions volunteers. The training covered public records, rules of procedure, applicable Ohio law, and the differences between legislative and administrative board functions.
We had a good turnout from our boards and commissions and plan to offer this training every two years moving forward.
Asphalt Resurfacing- The City’s annual asphalt resurfacing project is scheduled to begin next week and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. The City is investing approximately $450,000 this year in new asphalt to help maintain and improve the condition of our streets.
o N. Hyatt Street
o North 4th Street
o West Franklin Street
o Rosewood Creek Drive
o Hermosa Drive
o Hazeldean Court
The following streets are included in this year’s resurfacing program:
o Parkwood Drive
o County Road 25A (North of Main Street)
Traffic may be temporarily disrupted while work is underway. Traffic-control signs will be in place to direct motorists, and drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through active work zones.
Later this year, the City will begin a similar project to resurface several City alleys.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement with our city's progress.
*There will be no weekly update next week.
