Tipp City American Legion Post 586 invests in future leaders through Buckeye Boys State
For nearly 90 years, the American Legion has helped develop future leaders through Buckeye Boys State, one of the nation's premier youth leadership programs.
During the week of June 14-21, approximately 1,000 Ohio high school juniors gathered at Miami University for an immersive, week-long experience in government, leadership, and citizenship. Rather than simply studying government, delegates created and operated their own city, county, and state governments, campaigning for office, holding elections, debating legislation, and learning firsthand how democracy works.
Students selected to attend Buckeye Boys State are chosen based on their leadership potential, character, citizenship, and involvement in their schools and communities. Throughout the program, participants build leadership skills, develop lifelong friendships, and gain a greater appreciation for civic responsibility and public service.
Since its founding in 1936, Buckeye Boys State has impacted more than 90,000 young men across Ohio, many of whom have gone on to become community leaders, military officers, educators, business professionals, and public servants.
Tipp City American Legion Post 586 is proud to sponsor and support this outstanding program and invest in the next generation of leaders. By sponsoring local students to attend Buckeye Boys State, the Post continues its commitment to developing informed, engaged citizens who will help shape the future of our communities, state, and nation.
