Tippecanoe Students Send Off Retiring Teachers

More than a handful of Tippecanoe High School’s most coveted teachers are stepping out of the classroom and into the sunshine. Aimee Noel, Mike McCray, Diana Creekmore, Joe Bellas, and Andrew Farrell are all retiring after the 2026 school year comes to a close. In an expression of their gratitude, students from the Video Production class at Tippecanoe High School (THS) created send-off videos for each of the teachers.

“The context for this project is especially meaningful, as the students are producing tribute videos to honor five teachers who are retiring this year. The goal was to create something that celebrates the teachers’ long careers, highlights their impact on the school community, and preserves memories shared by students and staff,” recalled Alexis Morgan, THS’s art teacher.

Students interviewed their peers, other teachers, as well as alumni, about their experiences with each retiring staff member. The retiring teachers also shared their own stories and memories from their journey in the education system. The heartfelt collaboration allowed students to learn things they had otherwise never known about the staff members.

For instance, Aimee Noel, one of the pillars of the Tippecanoe literary department, was once going to major in Biology. Mike McCray was in a cover band called “The McCrazies” with none other than THS’s Ian Porto and Cory Breth.

The students were excited to interview teachers and reach out to THS alumni. Although the journalistic aspect was what they enjoyed most, Morgan recalled that the final product showcasing her classes' dedication was what she appreciated above everything else.

Morgan said, “As a teacher at Tippecanoe High School, I feel the teaching experience is unique because of the strong sense of collaboration among staff. My colleagues are always willing to share ideas, offer help, and work together to create meaningful learning experiences for students, which makes the environment both professional and encouraging.”

Tippecanoe High School’s community thrives on the unique perspective of the teachers, their endless dedication, and the students' excitement for projects like the retirement send-off videos. The retirement videos are open for viewing and commentary on the Tipp City News Network YouTube channel. Tippecanoe alumni and friends of the teachers are encouraged to share their fond memories.
