Officers complete CIT Academy

Sixteen officers and deputies from Miami, Darke, Shelby and Auglaize Counties, including Victim Assistance and Park Rangers, completed the Tri-County Crisis Intervention Team Academy for Law Enforcement Professionals April 27-30, 2026.

During the four-day training, officers hear from a variety of professionals who work with persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, and other special populations. Officers learn techniques for safely engaging with special populations and learn about resources available in the community with the goal of getting people the help they need and prevent unnecessary incarceration or other legal matters,

The April 2026 Academy is the 28th class in 21 years of the Tri-County Board's program. Almost 500 law enforcement professionals have completed the Tri-County CIT Academy, with more than 300 still active on local law enforcement rosters.

The officers completing the training are: Shannon Godown, Victim Advocate with Darke County Prosecutor's Office; Jennifer Webb, Victim Witness Director with Darke County Prosecutor's Office; Nolan Curtis and Riley Slade, Deputies with Darke County Sheriff's Office; Seth Conway and Braden Russell, Officers with Greenville Police Department; Joseph Mahan, Chief with Jackson Center Police Department; Vincent Brookshire and Catilyn Miller-Brown, Deputies with Miami County Sheriff's Office; Garrett Kramer and Logan Miller, Officers with Piqua Police Department; Justin Aselage, Park Ranger with Sidney Police Department; Jordan Fox and Caleb Lammers, Officers with Sidney Police Department; Aaron Wesbecher, Detective with Sidney Police Department; and Lucas Morton, Officer with Troy Police Department.
