Vandalia Chamber honors Capstone Property Solutions, Abbey Investments and Abbey Insurance
VANDALIA- The Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce hosted a special dual ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 14, celebrating the official opening of Capstone Property Solutions, Abbey Investment Services, and Abbey Insurance Services.
Located at 8535 N. Dixie Dr., the neighboring businesses shared the ceremony and an open house celebration featuring chamber members, city officials, and a visit from members of the Vandalia Fire Department.
“We all know each other very well,” Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Nick Kavalauskas said. “We’re excited to be able to help you celebrate a grand opening, and we’re here to support you and say thank you for being with us.”
Previously known as Vancon, Capstone Property Solutions offers commercial property maintenance and management services, including properties for lease, light construction, repair, and maintenance.
“A lot of you know us,” Capstone Property Solutions President Jean Maychack said. “We’ve been around the community for a long time, and we’re proud to continue that as Capstone Property Solutions.”
“If you’re looking for property to rent, come see us,” she said.
Abbey Investment Services and Abbey Insurance Services also celebrated their grand opening and merger with Thein Financial Group during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Abbey Insurance Services specializes in employee benefits, while Abbey Investment Services offers wealth management services.
“It’s mainly investments and wealth management services,” Abbey Credit Union President and CEO Dean Pielemeier said. “Then on the insurance side, it’s not insurance that you would typically think of; it’s not auto and home, it’s employer benefit insurances, like health, life, and disability, for employers to offer their employees.”
“It’s a lot,” Mike Thein of Thein Financial Group said. “Basically, what we’re doing is we’re developing a wealth management division, so people can actually do all their investing with Abbey now.”
“It’s kind of a unique situation, because there are only two other credit unions that offer financial services like this,” he said. “We’ve been trying to get the point across to people; they don’t have to go to the Wright-Patts of the world, they can still stay where they’re happy with Abbey, and the culture and the staff.”
Abbey Investment Services and Abbey Insurance Services are subsidiaries of Abbey Credit Union, Pielemeier said, but investment and insurance customers are not required to be members of the credit union.
“Credit unions are a financial cooperative,” he said. “We’re a co-op of people who pool their money together to lend it back out to others. We don’t have stockholders per se; if you belong to the credit union, you are a member and you can come and vote on things at the annual meeting. You have more of a say.”
Before merging with Abbey, Mike Thein was in business for 39 years.
“I’ve been in business since 1988,” Thein said. “Prior to that, my dad was in the insurance business for 53 years, so we’ve been around the Dayton area for a long time.”
“We opened last year,” he said of the merger. “It’s been great. We’re trying to get everything out there and put it out to everybody.”
