Track Athletes open up season at Troy Invitational
The Milton-Union track and field athletes opened up their season at the annual Troy Up and Running Invitational on Saturday, March 8, 2026. This meet ddidn’t include relays, only open running events and field events.
The meet opened with the 3200-meter run, which is typically run at the end of the meet. On the girls side, Lola Taylor placed ninth with a time of 15:40.33. On the boys side, Finn Hinkelman also placed ninth with a time of 10:58.34, and Chase Parsons placed 22 with a time of 12:18.45.
In the girls 100-meter dash, Audrina Strickland placed 20 out of 62 total runners. She finished in a time of 14.14 seconds. And on the boys side, Sam Milnickel placed 29 in a time of 12.14 seconds and Jaxon Strickland placed 37 in a time of 12.36 seconds. There were 71 total runners in the boys race.
Following was the 1600-meter run. Aubree Bates ran the mile in 5:43.99, earning fourth place. Other girls who raced were Madleyn Korte in 10 with a time of 6:25.48, Amelia Iddings in 11 with a time of 6:27.59, and Sydnie Bartlett in 12 with a time of 6:33.48. In the girls race, there were 25 total runners. On the boys side of the mile, Colin Hinkelman placed sixth in a time of 4:35.97, Grant Hinkelman placed ninth in a time of 4:44.62 and Andrew Oaks placed 12 in a time of 5:05.46. The boys race consisted of 44 total runners.
Charlie Lane competed in the boys 400-meter dash and finished in ninth place with a time of 54.73 seconds. Also competing for the ‘dogs was Logan Bohse, who placed 26 in a time of 57.70 seconds. There were 57 runners in the boys race.
Bates raced once again in the women's 800-meter dash where she placed sixth in a time of 2:36.14. Iddings also competed once again and finished in 16 with a time of 2:52.09, and Bartlett finished in 18 with a time of 2:54.67. There were 42 girls in this race. And on the boys side, there were 50 total runners. C. Hinkelman placed 12 in this race with a time of 2:10.89 and G. Hinkelman placed 14 in a time of 2:12.60. Carter Forrest also ran in this race and placed 28 in a time of 2:20.18. Finally, Oaks also ran again and placed 30 in a time of 2:21.35.
In the field events, beginning with women’s long jump, Lylie Spitler placed 19 after jumping 12-09.50 and Strickland placed 20 after jumping 12-07.25.
In women’s discus, Aubrey Jones placed third out of 32 throwing 101-10 and Madilyn Keys placed 12, throwing 74-04. In men’s discus, Wyatt Ortiz placed 10 out of 41, throwing 116-07. And in the women's shot put, Keys placed ninth, throwing 27-04.50.
And finishing the meet was men’s pole vault, where Milnickel vaulted a height of 13” which placed him third of 12 total athletes.
Although their season is just starting, many Bulldog athletes have shown this season will be a good one!
