Katie Koehler Wagner launches grassroots, people-first campaign

Katie Koehler Wagner launched their campaign for Ohio State House of Representative in District 80 with a public event on April 7, 2026, in Heritage Hall at Lost Creek in Troy.

With 150 attendees, Wagner’s people-first campaign, focused on bringing people together, listening to the community, and delivering practical solutions that reflect the needs of District 80’s residents, is off to a strong start.

“This campaign is about showing up, listening, and building something better together,” said Wagner. “No matter where you come from or how you vote, people here want to be heard and respected. That’s where this campaign starts.”

A longtime Troy resident and active community member, Wagner has spent the past 15-months connecting with neighbors, small business owners, educators, and families across Miami and southern Darke counties. Those conversations have shaped a campaign centered on:

• Addressing the unfair deal pushed upon the middle class, including rising energy costs, data centers, and regressive tax system.

• Strengthening public education

• Expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare

The launch event featured remarks from the community members and Wagner, along with opportunities for attendees to meet the campaign team and learn how to get involved.

“In a district like ours, progress comes from finding common ground. I am not here to fight with people. I am here to fight for people,” Wagner added. “This campaign is about people—real conversations, real solutions, and a real commitment to doing the work. It is not my campaign, it’s our campaign.”

Wagner and Team Katie for 80 will be canvassing Troy on 4/11, Piqua on 4/12, and Tipp City on 4/16.
