Alayna Trucksis: All The Buzz in Bethel

It’s no secret that women’s volleyball at the high school level is a coveted topic and a popularly followed sport in the Miami County Area. Tippecanoe has had quite a successful year, not just with their newly obtained title, but with alumni making moves in the volleyball world. 2022 Tippecanoe High School Graduate and former THS volleyball player Alayna Trucksis is bold, confident, and determined to succeed in her position as a coach for Tipp City’s neighboring team, the Bethel Bees.

Alayna's confidence and personality are what led her high school coach to nickname her “Truck.” Now, Truck is driving her Junior Varsity girls to success in the past couple of seasons. After graduating from Tippecanoe, Trucksis never abandoned the volleyball scene. The young coach played for one year on the Edison State Community College team before pursuing a career in sales, which she now maintains.

Although she’s booked and busy, volleyball has always been a priority in Alayana’s life. After playing for Edison, Trucksis began her career as a coach, leading both the Dayton Juniors and the seventh-grade Bethel Bees to victories.

Alayna has since secured her role as the Junior Varsity coach at Bethel and has led the Bees in two years of non-stop wins. In her first year, Alayna’s team was undefeated, and this year the Junior Varsity Bethel Bees won most all of their games, leaving them with a 21- 1 record this season. Alayna couldn’t be prouder of her girls, and the question stems: who will lead them to victory in Varsity?

Alayna is young and determined. She expressed how, at first, gaining the respect of the team was difficult. Starting out as a coach only a few years older than her players can be a struggle. That being said, Truck’s eye for talent and respect for responsibility and the game is what ultimately bonded her with her players. Discipline is important to Trucksis and is a foundation she creates to push the Bees to their potential.

Given the Bethel girls' success with their energetic coach over the past two years, parents and followers hope to continue their winning streak. The question of who will coach the Bethel Bees Varsity team in 2026 still lingers, but Alayana is just happy to see her girls thrive. Despite leading the JV team to back-to-back victories, Truck remains humble. She says she’d love to coach varsity, but she ultimately wants whatever is best for the girls. Her main goal is to pass on her love for volleyball that made her who she is today.

In the meantime, there is no off-season for Alayna. Volleyball officially starts in August with practice six days a week, and games three-four days a week. Now, several months ahead, Trucksis is making sure her girls are prepared for the season, whether she’s coaching JV or Varsity. The motivated JV coach hosts open gyms once a week and keeps in contact with the team and their parents. Truck will do whatever she can to make sure the Bees continue to Buzz in 2026.
