New Carlisle celebrates Heritage of Flight, America 250
Carnival rides, midway games, live music, food trucks, and vendors brought a once-in-a-lifetime party to downtown New Carlisle from Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, as the city celebrated a special America 250 edition of the annual Heritage of Flight Festival.
“It’s my favorite weekend of the year,” Vice-Mayor and City Council member Peggy Eggleston said.
“It’s just gotten bigger and bigger,” she said.
This year’s celebrations were expanded, in honor of America’s 250th birthday. The festival featured a car show on Friday, October 2, and the annual Parade of Planes on Saturday, October 3. The festival also featured chair races, a motorcycle show, a Jeep Cruise-In, and pro wrestling matches.
“Last year was the first year for wrestling,” Eggleston said. “It was a big hit, so they said they would come back.”
The festival also included a fireworks show and a 30th anniversary performance by 80s rock band Stranger.
Sponsors for the Heritage of Flight festival included Troy & Goodall Lumber, Rumpke, Godlove Family Restaurants, the Site Group, Carter’s Junk Drawer, Van Scoyk Sheet Metals, Arbor Homes, Chuck’s Heating and Cooling, Otterly Baths, Koverman, Staley Dickerson Insurance, Honeycreek Services, Howard Hanna Real Estate, Park National Corporation, FabMetals, Wright-Patt Credit Union, Safe and Sound Outfitters, Mercy Health, Clingman Insurance, T.C. “Troy & Goodall has just been great,” Eggleston said. “All the businesses downtown here on Main Street have just stepped it up.”
