Chaffee’s Brewhouse finalizes new addition

Chaffee’s Brewhouse was erected without its coffee shop or bar interior nearly 160 years ago. Today, the original structure is filled with chatty regulars, early bird coffee runners, and many members of the community.

Though Chaffee’s has only been around since 2020, business owners Shawn and Lisa Richards have been working for an entire year to revamp the 1867 brick pinnacle of Tipp City with a modern Airbnb and VRBO Addition.

Chaffee’s is a bar, breakfast nook, and coffee shop, but the building it sits in holds more than meets the eye.

Shawn Richards recently opened the upstairs Opera House, a historic downtown venue that has hosted many events and lived many lives over the past 159 years, for a brief public showing in September.

Many citizens have spotted Shawn traveling up and down flights of stairs with wooden scraps, television sets, furniture, and other miscellaneous items, and after a year of prepping and priming both the historic Opera House and a new Airbnb, the work has finally paid off.

The Chaffee’s Brewhouse Airbnb features one bedroom, one bathroom, in-unit laundry, a fully usable kitchen, and of course, a Keurig with Hemisphere Coffee K-cups, straight from the bar downstairs.

Shawn and his wife Lisa have curated a very specific Tipp vibe in their Airbnb that pays homage to the small town it resides in.

The unit features windows that face South Second Street and the beautiful Tipp City mural painted by Logan Rogers. On the door leading to the Airbnb, a stained-glass panel crafted at Renaissance Glass Studios by a talented Chaffee’s loyal customer, Sam Grillmeir, adds a touch of local artistry.

The Chaffee’s Brewhouse Airbnb is also within walking distance of many Tipp City staples, including downtown shops and the scenic Roger Presley Trail.

Shawn crafted a fun, artsy vibe full of small-town whimsy. The unit features newly exposed brick and art from Shawn’s personal collection.

Tipp City is full of Airbnbs and it isn’t difficult to find somewhere for family to stay when it becomes a little too crowded during the holidays. But due to its unique placement and curated aura, the Chaffee’s Brewhouse Airbnb is a hot booking commodity.

The Airbnb is a long-awaited addition to Chaffee’s Brewhouse, and Shawn and Lisa Richards are excited to welcome travelers and new friends to their quaint home away from home.
