Tipp boys runner-up in home swim meet

The Tippecanoe swim team hosted a four-team meet last weekend at the Troy Y, with Shawnee, Kenton Ridge, and Bethel participating. With a strong performance, the Red Devils boys squad placed second overall with 62 points, finishing just behind Kenton Ridge. For the girls, the Red Devils placed third overall, behind Shawnee and Kenton Ridge.

In the opening event, Tipp girls finished third in the 200 Medley Relay as Emily Vore, Izzy Poffenberger, Avery Anderson, and Linneyah Channel swam a time of 2:24.37. For the Tipp boys, they placed second overall with a time of 1:55.02, less than a second behind the team from Kenton Ridge. Swimming for Tipp included Ridley Brenner, Jaxen Anderson, Liam Dunkle and Julius Galbert.

Audrey Jackson placed second for Tipp in the girls 200 Free, swimming 2:29.27, with the boys event also seeing Layton McMurry placing third with a time of 2:25.50.

Adelyn Deppen swam to a fourth place finish in the girls 200 IM with a time of 2:46.19, and in the boys race, Tipp brought home their first win in the event as Dunkle swam 2:24.37. 

The 50 Free event for the girls saw Channel finish fifth, swimming a time of 33.68, with Poffenberger right behind of 33.78. Galbert took home the runner-up time in the boys 50 Free as the sophomore swam 25.34. Finishing third with a 25.46 was Brenner.

Anderson took second in the girls 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:08.01, and Jaxen Anderson brought home the win in the boys 100 Butterfly, swimming a finish of 1:00.75.

The girls 100 Free had Deppen place third, swimming 1:02.38, with Galbert finishing in 57.12 swimming in the boys event, four seconds off the winner. McMurry finished fourth (1:03.72).

Dunkle was second in the boys 500 Free, finishing the event in 6:07.27 for the Red Devils.

In the girls 200 Free Relay, the team of Jackson, Poffenberger, Deppen, and Channel placed second with a time of 2:08.96. For the boys, Tipp captured another win by finishing with a time of 1:44.37 behind the swimming of Brenner, Anderson, Dunkle and Galbert.

Anderson won the girls 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:09.27 with Vore taking fourth (1:19.75). The Tipp boys also brought home the win with Brenner finishing the event in 1:04.01, with his teammate Anderson finishing second with a 1:07.72. 

Swimming the girls 100 Breast for Tipp was Jackson who placed fifth with a time of 1:29.01.

In the final events, the girls placed second in the 400 Free Relay as Deppen, Vore, Jackson and Anderson swam 4:23.49.
