Tipp man sentenced to prison for sex charges

Twenty-four to 27 years in prison was ordered last week for a Tipp City man convicted of sexual battery involving a 13-year-old girl.

Dominick Funaro, 45, was sentenced Sept. 3 in Miami County Common Pleas Court on 12 felony counts of sexual battery. He pleaded guilty to the charges in August.

Funaro was arrested this summer after an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a child. Investigators said the abuse occurred between Nov. 1 and May 31 and involved a child known to Funaro.

Judge Stacy Wall sentenced him to both concurrent and consecutive sentences, saying he poses a danger to the public. The judge found Funaro showed no remorse for his actions.

He was designated a Tier III sex offender, which will require him to register as a sex offender every 90 days in the county where he lives once he is released from prison. The registration will be required for the rest of his life.
