From Home to Farmstand
There are many autumnal values that signify a change in seasons. Brisk weather, pumpkin spice, and changing leaves are all indicators that fall is on its way. One of the cutest and most local seasonal additions, however, is a homegrown farm stand featuring freshly baked goods, soaps, spices, and other local treasures.
There’s something magical about pulling off to a hidden treasure such as a farm stand during the beginning of fall, and this magic has been created on the cusp of Tipp City and West Milton. On 3400 West State Route 571, Troy, 21-year-old Claire Brian sprouted a whimsical farmstand at the edge of her driveway.
Claire has always loved baking, but it wasn’t until she needed to raise money for a mission trip in 2024 that she found she had a knack for business. After a successful fundraiser last summer, Claire decided to create her own little farmstand just over a year later. Now, as autumn approaches, she is the proud owner and supplier of The Bread Basket.
Claire’s passion lies in baking. She says, “It’s relaxing, and another way to spend time with family since I’m at home.” The young baker is family-oriented, with both parents using their entrepreneurial eye to help guide Claire in the farmstand business. Her father, a contractor, helped Claire build the adorable Bread Basket, and her mother’s cooking from scratch inspired Claire to bake as often as she does.
Claire is dedicated to her new farmstand and bakes an abundance of goods every Monday, dropping them off at the end of her driveway on Tuesdays. Her favorite treat to bake is sourdough, and she enjoys the thorough process of making around 10 loaves each week. The young Bread Basket owner has dreams of becoming a stay-at-home mom and passing her coveted baking talent down to her future children. Until then, the community of Tipp City, Troy, and West Milton has the opportunity to embrace the beginning of autumn with baked goods and enjoy Claire's many tasty creations from The Bread Basket.
