Red Devils cruised to easy 10-0 league win

The outcome of the game did not surprise anyone as the Tippecanoe girls soccer team earned another MVL victory last week with a 10-0 victory over West Carrollton on Thursday night at the Tipp Park Stadium. The Pirates had not scored this season coming into the game, while allowing 47 goals on the season.

Tipp added to their misery, jumping out to a six-goal lead at the half and adding to their shutout in the final 40 minutes with four more scores.

“It is always important to defend the home turf, and the league games are always more important as well,” Tipp coach Brent Palmer said. “Clean sheet tonight and a lot of goal scorers.”

It only took Tipp three minutes to break into the scoring column as Mady Turner put Tipp on the scoreboard first with an assist from Julia Burgbacher, giving Tipp a very quick 1-0 lead.

Turner came back seven minutes later and placed her second shot in the net on a scramble in the box, making it 2-0. Maryn Perrault took a pass from Turner at the 27:45 mark on the half and stuck it past the keeper, pushing the Tipp lead to 3-0.

As the midway point of the half approached, Paige Royse made it 4-0 with a score. To close out the first half, Tipp scored two more goals in the final 12:10. Ellie Lukacs found the net off an assist from Leilani Green. Then minutes later, Tipp scored when Isabelle Mahl added a goal to give Tipp a 6-0 lead at the break.

“The defense has improved a lot this year,” Palmer said. “It is a young group, and the back four is two freshmen and two sophomores. They are getting better every day and learning and growing together.”

Addison Kleather put the seventh goal on the board at the 29:51 mark of the second half. The final goals came from Lukacs, Ali Turner, and Royse.

“We don’t have a main goal scorer, we have a lot of different girls who can score goals,” Palmer said. “It is a great problem to have and makes us difficult to prepare for.”

Tipp takes the field tonight at Fairborn before heading to Oakwood on Saturday.
