Lunch Break
Sampling dishes and diners in and around Miami County

Everyone loves a family dinner or a bite to eat with friends. However, sometimes “let's grab something to eat” plans get old and boring. Sometimes there aren’t enough margaritas to turn a night at a restaurant booth into a memory. Dinners for catching up or spilling gossip definitely have their place. However, it never hurts to add an element of fun to the table. That’s why I absolutely adored my time at the local golf outing and roadside restaurant, Long Shots.
I’ve never golfed outside of anything mini. That’s not to say I see myself going pro anytime soon, but with some borrowed pucks and a dream, I hit a few neon balls into the not-so-far distance. It’s less than $20 to rent over 100 balls, and with all of the new updates and adorable seating done to Long Shots, if $20 is all you’re looking to spend on a weekday outing with friends, Long Shots has the cheerful vibe of a lakeside establishment you’d find on vacation, only it’s here, right off of 25A.
If you are looking for food and entertainment, then Long Shots also has a pretty great menu selection. Additionally, they have a smaller menu lined with Cocktails and Mocktails, for those who might have to wake up a little earlier the next morning. After working up a bit of an appetite, I was stuck between the Barbeque Mac and Cheese and the Ranch Fries. I landed on the Mac and was far from disappointed. The creamy, cheesy sauce found itself in every single bite of windy cavatappi noodles, and the hot and tangy pulled pork made for a delicious two-for-one taste experience. The only thing I'd say is that it could be a little less soupy. Some people prefer soupy, creamy mac and cheese, but I’m more of a baked type of girl. To each their own, I still devoured the entire delicious bowl.
As I was placing my order, I noticed that Long Shots actually has so many activities outside of just golf: paint and sips, Karaoke, and Music Bingo. You could fill your entire week of nights if you really wanted to. For now, though, it’s a fun, outdoors, food and friends activity for the same price as bowling, but with a way cuter atmosphere. You can’t really beat that, not by a long shot.
