14th Annual Tippaplooza Music Festival now a free event downtown
Celebrating its 14th year of bringing the Miami Valley’s best live music to Tipp City, Ohio, this year’s Tippapalooza Music Festival is happening on Saturday, August 30, in historic downtown Tipp City. Thanks to a grant from the Tipp City Foundation, Tippapalooza will be free and open to all. The family-friendly festival encourages attendees to bring lawn chairs.
This year’s festival features four bands celebrating Miami Valley’s rock credentials.
Thunderlover is high-energy, riff-heavy rock that blends elements of 1980s hair metal and 1990s grunge with tongue-in-cheek lyrics. The band channels big, bombastic arena rock hooks and guitar riffs in a "no frills, pedal to the metal" style, prioritizing fun, and party-rock energy.
Sadbox plays original rock music characterized by a blending classic rock with catchy pop hooks and indie vibes. Their sound reflects both professional musicianship and an organic DIY creative process.
Salvadore Ross, often proclaimed to be the "loudest band in Dayton," plays fuzz-inspired, psychedelic rock and roll. They blend space rock, heavy greasy riffs, and 1960s style songwriting.
The Boxcar Suite’s music is rooted in energetic, guitar-driven power pop infused with Americana, drawing influence from classic rock, punk, folk, and even touches of psychedelia and country. Their songs are marked by melodic hooks and rich harmonies. Their live performances are natural and unpretentious, capturing magic moments with a jam-band energy and a straightforward heartfelt approach.
The Tippapalooza Music Festival will also feature special food selections from Tipp City’s local downtown establishments, offering a diverse mix of food, drink selections, and an ice cream specifically for Tippapalooza. Food options will be available from Tipp City Pizza, Bodega Market, Harrison’s, Red Devil Pizza, Rad Candy Company, and AeCha Cafe. There will be custom-made non-alcoholic lemonades from Sip N Smash, and alcohol options from Harrison’s and Chafee’s Brewhouse.
Festival doors open at 5 p.m., with music starting at 6 p.m. and continuing through the evening.
This family-friendly atmosphere is perfect for enjoying the best musical acts out of Dayton’s dynamic music scene. Since the festival’s inception in 2012, Tippapalooza has curated an eccelctic lineup of musical acts year after year.
