Fall sports are in full swing
Fall sports are in full swing at Milton-Union, and many athletes and teams are off to a great start.
The girls’ golf team defeated Riverside on August 8 in their first conference match up of the season, 198-251. 198 is a season low for nine holes. Senior Evie Dehus was the medalist with a 42. Addi Case shot a 44, Scarlet Crowe a 48, and Hadley Galentine a 64. The team's next matchup was against non-conference team St. Mary’s. It was a close game with a score of 202-206. Case was the medalist with a 42, Dehus with a 45, Crowe with a 48 and Galentine with a 71.
To finally get caught up with this team, their most recent matchup was a tri-match against Riverside and Lehman Catholic. They received their first conference loss from Riverside, 215-216. However, they did beat Lehman, 216-244. Case was medalist once again against Lehman shooting a 44. Dehus with 47, Crowe with 56, and Galentine with 69. On the other side of things, the boys’ golf team was defeated by Riverside on August 8 with an end score of 149-167. Although a loss, 167 is a season low for the ‘dogs. Keaton Jones and Austin Hodkin led with 39s. The team next played against Bethel on August 13, where they unfortunately lost again, 153-174. Hunter Fraley led Milton with a 41. In a match up against Riverside once again, the ‘dogs came out on top this time, 190-190. They won on a fifth man tiebreak. Hodkin led for Milton, shooting a 46. As for the boys’ soccer team, seniors Mason Quesinberry and Chase Hamann were named captains for the 2025 season. They had their first scrimmage on August 12 and will have played against Miami East on August 21.
The same goes for the girls’ soccer team. Their season opener was against Greenview on August 16. However, they will have had their home opener against Miami East on August 21. The boys and girls cross country team competed at the Lost Creek Invitational on Monday, August 18, in a 3-kilometer race. Junior Colin Hinkelman won the race on the boys side and junior Aubree Bates placed third on the girls’ side. They will have raced their first 5-kilometer race of the season on August 23 at the annual Bob Schul Invitational. Bulldog football opened their season up in a Jamboree scrimmage against Brookville on August 15. They will take on Versailles on August 22, which will have marked the first official game of the season. The volleyball team competed at home against Piqua on August 16 to kick off their season.
The girls’ tennis team also opened their season up on August 11 against Kenton Ridge.
