Welcome to West Milton

You can’t miss West Milton‘s biggest piece of art. The Welcome to West Milton mural, which is located on the Rural Desk building near the corner of 48 and 571, was a months-long process from inception to completion.

West Milton native Wes Martin, who owns The Rural Desk building, reached out to Project Revival about placing a mural on the side of the building. Sara Gregory, a long-time member of Project Revival, had already had a mural for the village on her radar. The original process started in the fall of 2024.

Painter Jennifer Noren, a self-taught artist who eventually earned a degree in fine art, specializing in oil paintings, worked closely with Martin and Project Revival on completing this mural. Noren has worked on several large scale painting projects, including many dental office murals, the musician mural at Leaf and Vine behind the bar, and she assisted with the reworking of the mural on the side of the Mayflower building. She has also created several business logos, designed window and sign art, and even designed a logo for the former West Milton library.

This project was no easy feat and required concrete to be placed on the side of the building. Several mockups of the design were completed with a collaboration of Project Revival and Noren for final design approval. Noren used a projector to get her design from the paper proportionally to the wall over two days. It took her roughly ten eight-hour days of working in May to complete the painting. The mural represents West Milton’s agricultural roots as well as the beautiful green space offered by Municipal Park. Noren‘s paver part of the mural is the corn and the abstract lining of greens down the center. She loves the juxtaposition of green and red justice color as well.

Funding for the mural was provided by a Duke Foundation Grant and the Miami County Visitors and Convention Bureau Grant. Project Revival would love to add additional murals to the downtown area, as several building owners have consented to the use of their buildings. If you are interested in sponsoring part or all of a mural, please reach out to Project Revival.

Noren would like to thank the West Milton community,  Project Revival, and Wes Martin for the opportunity to create such an iconic piece of art for our town.
