City Manager’s Weekly Update
Highlights from this past week along with some project updates that will impact the city in the coming weeks.
Alley Resurfacing- In response to resident feedback, City Council has prioritized alley maintenance and resurfacing in recent years. This year, the City has allocated $200,000 for alley repairs. The project is currently out for bid, with work anticipated to begin in late summer or early fall, depending on contractor availability.
Windmere Park Walking Path- Last year, the City applied for a grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to help fund improvements to the walking path at Windmere Park. The project includes resurfacing the existing path and completing the full loop around the park. At the next Council meeting, City Council will consider a resolution to move forward with the project. The low bid came in at $104,000, with the ODNR grant covering 50% of the cost.
National Night Out- The Tipp City Police Department will host its 5th Annual National Night Out at Kyle Park on Monday, August 5th. This community event is a great opportunity for residents to meet and engage with local first responders, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, and enjoy food from local food trucks. In addition to Tipp City Police and Emergency Services, representatives from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies will be in attendance.
Northern Area Water Authority Treatment Plant Project – The City’s water treatment plant, jointly owned with the City of Vandalia, is undergoing design for a major capital improvement project mandated by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The project includes construction of a manmade ditch through a portion of Kyle Park. Once design is complete, more details will be shared regarding the construction schedule and anticipated impacts to the park.
Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission Open House- On Tuesday, August 6th, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) will host an Open House from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tipp City Government Center. The event is part of MVRPC’s Regional Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan, aimed at reducing traffic-related deaths and serious injuries in the Miami Valley. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the initiative, and provide feedback.
We continue to encourage residents to download the My Tipp City Mobile App as a convenient way to receive real-time alerts and updates about City services and issues.
However, we understand that some residents may prefer not to download another mobile application. If that’s the case, you can still stay informed by signing up to receive these notifications via email.
