Isaac with big senior goals

Collin Isaac is no stranger to success with the Tippecanoe football team.

The senior led the MVL in tackles last season, meaning he is always around the ball. With his defense leading the way, the Red Devils' tradition of gridiron success will continue this season.  According to Isaac, it will be about how well the team plays together that will determine their success. “I truly believe if we have a strong team chemistry and will to do what’s best for the team, we will keep the tradition of Tippecanoe football strong,” he said. “It’s going to take the team working as one on the same page throughout the entire week, preparing for the game ahead, and only thinking one day at a time.”

Isaac knows the season begins at Bellbrook in mid-September, and you never look ahead. But the MVL title is on their minds again after winning the coveted spot last season, which is something definitely within reach again this fall. “It’s pretty simple, we just need to have one thought and that’s winning the next play and doing our job,” Isaac said. Isaac is a leader, and that is shown by his play on the field. Coach Matt Burgbacher admits that his completeness as a player comes from his hard work.

“The best description you can give Collin Isaac is a true throwback football player,” Burgbacher said.  “He plays the game the way it is supposed to be played with relentless effort, attitude, and hard work.” “Collin is a student of the game and takes his preparation very seriously. The way he physically trains his body, the nutrition he uses, and mentally trains by watching film, it’s not a surprise he is able to do what he does at a very high level.” “We’ve had a great run of very good linebackers here at Tipp, and Collin is at the top of that list,” the coach continued. “He has a tenacity about him that allows him to play at a very high level. Collin’s block destruction and nose for the football are exceptional.” Isaac’s summer has helped prepare him for what is expected of him when the ball is kicked off this fall.

“My summer has consisted of lots of hard work, such as practice and workouts every day with the team and working out with my trainer Vargo,” he said. “I have also been hitting up camps all over the state to showcase my skills and learn for the college coaches as well.” “Collin is the quarterback of our defense, sets the fronts and makes sure everyone is on the same page,” Burgbacher said. “It gives us a sense of security knowing Collin is back leading our defense again this year.” Burgbacher also stated that Isaac will be effective in other aspects of the game, which will be a huge asset to the team's success. “Defense isn’t the only area where Collin helps our team,” he said. “He is a phenomenal special teams player. It is a treat to watch Collin on our kickoff team, he is either making the tackle, or three to four guys are having to block him.” “He is also on our punt team, kickoff return team, punt block, and extra point/field goal block team. He plays special teams exactly how he plays defense, top notch.”

Isaac plans to continue his career at the collegiate level and study business.
