Demolition finally begins on Nevin Coppock School
At the end of April, the Board of Education approved the contract with Shook Construction Company to abate and demolish Nevin Coppock Elementary School. Demolition began the week of July 7. The building of Nevin Coppock Elementary School began in 1959 with the passage of a school bond for $650,000. The building cost was $580,210.
An opening dedication service was held on May 1, 1960, with the first classes beginning on September 6, 1960. The first sidewalks were installed outside of the building in 1964 at a cost of $1,400. The building was closed at the end of the school year 2024.
