Lunch Break: Had to Try Buckeye

Sampling dishes and diners in and around Miami County

I’m no stranger to traveling a little out of the way to try something new. I love finding places out of my comfort zone to grab a bite to eat. However, nothing really beats walking through Downtown Tipp City on a sunny late afternoon for an early dinner with my mom.

I’ve heard about the mysterious burger truck parked by Chaffee’s for a couple of weeks, but I finally had a free Monday evening to try it. Although a little on the pricier side, I absolutely adored Buckeye Burgers. The food truck’s menu has a wide variety of burger choices that put a spin on the classic American fan favorite.

I landed in trying the OH! Burger, while my mom went for a mellower Swiss and Mushroom. It only takes a few minutes for your burger to be ready after ordering, leaving the perfect amount of time to don your DORA cup and grab a well-deserved Monday night Chaffee’s refreshment.

My burger paired incredibly well with a Diet Coke. My mom’s with a Chaffee’s Chardonnay. The OH! Burger was a deliciously sloppy burger loaded with two patties, pickles, condiments, melted cheese, caramelized onion, and the OH sauce. I’m a pickle lover, so I was immediately a fan of the dill-flavored mayonnaise-based addition. Next time, I’ll definitely ask for extra OH sauce on the side for my fries. The fries were also a perfect pair with both burgers, adding a delightful touch of all fresh, hand-cut, and salty goodness.

The OH! Burger was incredible, but I had to try a bite of the Swiss and Mushroom Burger as well. No matter how many haters mushrooms have, I will always be a die-hard fan. These pan-fried fungi were absolutely to die for and tasted amazing when smooshed between all of the burger fixings.

After trying both burgers, I knew that I could’ve ordered anything off the Buckeye Burgers menu and been satisfied. My mom and I absolutely loved our dinner date in downtown Tipp, and every bite felt like an inch closer to summer. I can’t wait to have another Monday night free, for a burger and a good time.
