Tipp sweeps Stivers in dominant fashion
Just another day at the office for the Tippecanoe volleyball team.
In just under an hour, the Red Devils advanced to the district championship game with a 25-6, 25-3, 25-8 domination of Stivers to remain unbeaten on the season.
With the win, the Red Devils advanced to the Division Three District Finals held last Saturday against Oxford Talawanda.
“I think that we came in with a good disposition and did the things we were supposed to do,” Tipp coach Howard Garcia said. “I like that the girls didn’t bring their game down because of what the opponent was doing. We are going to make errors of course, but they handled the environment very well.”
The Red Devils jumped out to a 7-1 lead early thanks to four points from Bri Morris. Solid net play from Savannah Clawson and Lexi Luginbuhl kept the momentum with Tipp as Faith Siefring served seven points to push the Tipp lead out to 15-2.
Another big run of points from Clawson put the Tipp lead at 22-4 before closing out the opening set.
Game two was much of the same as Tipp steamrolled out to a 16-0 lead behind Morris serving all 16 points to open the game. Three more points from Abbi Mader pushed the lead out to 20-1 before closing out Stivers.
Tipp led 17-2 in game three and had no trouble finishing the Tigers out in 58 minutes, and a date with Talawanda last Saturday.
Mader led Tipp with eight kills and three aces while Luginbuhl added seven kills. Liv Hiser and Courtney Post each had five kills.
Morris had ten aces to lead the Red Devils while Siefring added six, Morris led with 22 assists while both Siefring and Olivia Quick each had four digs to lead Tipp.
*Another sweep sent the Red Devils to the regionals this week, as Tipp took three games from Oxford Talawanda in the district finals Saturday, 25-21, 25-18, 25-10 to improve to 25-0 and will play Hamilton Ross late tonight, 8 p.m. at
