Vintage Tipp: 1974 Cross Country
The Tippecanoe Historical Society mystery picture from last week was of a Tippecanoe High School boys cross country team that placed second at the state championships in 1974 and 1975. Coach Tom Rogers' unorthodox training methods, like running up the bleachers or on the levy and doing speed drills, made the boys ready for competition. Both years, this Division AA team won all its races except one. This information is from Susan Furlong's book "Legendary Locals of Tippecanoe To Tipp City".
The museum is open Saturdays from 10-2. All are welcome to stop by, browse around, and ask questions or share information. The museum will be closed on September 26 as we will be manning our booth at the Mum Festival. If you have company visiting and would like to stop in, call 937-698-6798 to make an appointment.
