Tipp City prepares for anticipated music festival
The activities and events in Tipp City aren’t few and far between, but one downtown celebration in particular takes the cake as the party of the summer.
Tippapalooza is fast approaching, and organizers like Bill Wendel are at the forefront of making the night of September 5th one that the Tipp City community won’t forget.
For the past 14 years, Tippapalooza has invited original, exciting, and local bands to Tipp City for a special one-night event.
Admission is free, though donations are encouraged, and Tippapalooza has raised around
$10,000 for different nonprofit organizations during the concerts.
Each year there is usually a 50/50 raffle, but Wendel shared that this year, things will be a little different.
Instead of a lottery, where in the past the winner almost always donated the money back, there will be donation buckets with the opportunity to contribute funds to a nonprofit organization, selected for donation after the event.
The music festival will also promote small local businesses and fully utilize the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in downtown Tipp, including South Second Street, where various bands will take the stage.
As the Tippapalooza president, Wendel, says, “There’s an immense amount of talent in Miami County,” and that he has searched far and wide throughout the year to find entertaining musicians and fully original bands for the Tipp City community.
Though in years past there has been repeat entertainment, this year there is a fresh set list with all new talent.
The lineup includes Dayton indie rock band Yuppie, southern rock group the Gage Thomas Band, and Tippapalooza’s frontliner Noah Witherspoon, whom Wendel says is “the biggest star we’ve ever had.”
Wendel and his Tippapalooza team plan to share a map of downtown Tipp City the week before September Fifth for everyone who may need a refresher on the layout or are possibly bringing friends and family from out of town.
Wendel is confident that there is plenty of parking for the event and is “excited to use Tippapalooza to promote downtown businesses.”
When Tippapalooza began 15 years ago, the event only hosted a single band. Now, in 2026, there is a collection of rock and rock-adjacent groups, a booming DORA district, and a community that is buzzing and anticipating a warm summer night of music and memories.
