Vacation at the Park celebrates classic recess fun

Children participating in Tipp Monroe Community Services' Vacation at the Park enjoyed a week filled with classic recess games, creative activities, and summer fun during the program's RAD Recess theme. Throughout the week, participants listened to interactive stories with Ms. Wendy from the Tipp City Public Library and joined Ms. Vicky from the Miami Co. Health Dept. for traditional recess games and activities. Children made and raced paper airplanes, competed in tug-of-war and cup stacking challenges, created colorful sidewalk chalk art, played on the playground while learning playground safety, completed summer bingo for prizes, and enjoyed hula hoops, hopscotch, jump rope, and classic jacks games. The week also featured popsicles, water-spray activities to beat the summer heat, and plenty of outdoor play. Each child received a backpack filled with a jacks game, Wiffle ball and slinky to continue the fun at home. The week concluded with a pizza party celebrating an active week of play, learning and friendship.

Tipp Monroe Community Services' Vacation at the Park is a seven-week summer program for children ages 4 to 8 that combines recreation, learning and creativity. A Tipp City tradition for more than 50 years, the program is held at the Tipp City Park Roundhouse and features weekly themed activities, including games, crafts, STEM projects, interactive story times with the Tipp City Public Library and visits from local organizations that encourage physical activity, creativity and social development.
