Tipp City Manager’s Weekly Update

Please see the highlights from this past week along with some upcoming items that will impact the City in the coming weeks.

State Route 571 Road Closure- The City has been notified that the Ohio Department of Transportation plans to close a section of State Route 571 between County Road 25A and Peters Road for approximately 14 days beginning July 20.

County Road 25A Waterline Extension- Construction of the new waterline is tentatively scheduled to begin September 1. The waterline will be installed behind the curb within the grassy right-of-way, so the roadway itself will not need to be disturbed. However, motorists should expect temporary lane closures near active construction areas.

2nd Street Culvert- The 2nd Street culvert is at the end of it’s useful life and is set to be replaced this year. This project will require a full closure of North Second Street just south of Parkwood Drive. The project is tentatively set to begin in mid-August.

WAWA Gas Station- The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Wawa was held this week, and the store is now open for business. We are pleased to welcome Wawa to the Tipp City community.

Long Range Planning- The City continues its long-range planning efforts, including the development of a new Parks Master Plan and a comprehensive land-use plan. Both planning processes are expected to be completed this fall. A draft of the comprehensive plan will be presented at next week’s Planning Board meeting. Following the Planning Board’s review, the plan will eventually be presented to City Council for consideration and final approval.

Alley Resurfacing- Bids were opened this week for the City’s alley resurfacing project, and the bids came in well under budget. This year’s program includes alleys generally located between South Hyatt Street and South Sixth Street along Broadway Street, as well as between South Second and South Third streets, from German Street to Elm Street. Construction scheduling information will be provided once the contract is finalized.

Centerpoint Energy Work- CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas work along Main Street is nearing completion. All remaining asphalt and concrete restoration work is scheduled to be completed by the end of next week
