State champion ready to run it back

Coming off of a state championship, Tippecanoe volleyball senior Faith Siefring has now reached the pinnacle goal of her high school career.
But for the Red Devil libero, it is all about living up to the standards that have now been set, and carrying them over into the new season that starts in just about a month.
“Coming into this final season, I think putting myself in other teams' perspectives will definitely impact how, as a team, we perform,” Siefring said. “Even regular MVL games will be special for other teams since they are competing against a state team. It’s just exciting on both ends.”
Tipp will again be the heavy favorite in the MVL, and a lot of that has to do with the skill set of Siefring. Coach Howard Garcia told me this summer Siefring is the best in the area. As her game continues to grow, Siefring looks to be a strong floor leader for Tipp.
“My coaches have played a huge role in my performance,” Siefring said. “They aren’t easy on anyone, and it makes us disciplined, which drives me to want to be better. They always encourage extra practice so I’ve done training throughout the year to increase my ability, yet there is always room for improvement.”
“I definitely need to have the mentality that going far is never easy and it won’t just happen without putting in effort.”
But what kind of goal can a team have that has reached the highest peak of the mountain? For Siefring, they are not satisfied with just one gold medal.
“I want to win the state again,” proclaimed Siefring. “I want some girls that haven’t experienced that feeling to know what it’s like. We will definitely miss our seniors from last year because they played such a huge role in what we’ve accomplished. But I also believe our team this year has what it takes to win it all again.”
Time will tell what happens this fall, as the bullseye has grown on an already talented program. Siefring has continued to work on her game during the offseason by playing club volleyball for one of the most elite programs in Ohio.
“I practiced with Elevation, which helped me improve throughout the off season,” she said. “It gave me a chance to enhance my defensive skills and quickness.”
For now, the all-conference standout will just enjoy playing with her teammates and friends for one more season, looking for their fifth consecutive league title. During those four previous league championship seasons, Tipp has gone 72-0 in league matches.
Following her time as a Red Devil, she has her eyes set on attending a local college, but has not closed another chance to maybe play the sport she loves.
“I am still exploring all my options, but the University of Dayton has always been close to my heart,” she said. “My siblings both went there, and I’ve grown up going to UD basketball games and I’ve fallen in love with the school itself. However, I want to maintain an open mind if another opportunity presents itself.”
