Senate Bill 450 provides $1,000,000 for Tipp City Grocery Project

As previously reported in the Tippecanoe Gazette, State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) voted for Senate Bill 450, Ohio’s Capital Budget, which secured $2,150,000 for community projects across Miami County.

On June 15, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 450, the $3.7 billion capital budget bill for fiscal years 2027 and 2028. Of the $3.7 billion allocated by the bill, $208 million is dedicated to support 815 community projects across the state.

“I’m proud to secure funding for these projects supporting the citizens of Miami County,” said Senator Huffman. “The funding received in this year’s Capital Budget strengthens all aspects of our community. I know that these investments will have a positive effect for residents across the 5th Senate District.”

Among the projects receiving support in the 5th District is the Tipp City Grocery Project. The $1,000,000 project will attract a full-service grocery store for the neighborhood and eliminate a food desert in the city. The project anticipates creating 110 new jobs and expanding local economic activity. Edison State Community College is included as a partner in the project, providing support for its development.

“This project couldn’t have happened without Senator Huffman’s support,” said Eric Mack, City Manager for Tipp City. “This funding helps us to achieve our goal of increasing economic development, offering a fresh start for the West Side.”

Additional Miami County projects include:

  • Hobart Institute of Welding Equipment Upgrades - $475,000

  • Canalley Project in the City of Piqua - $300,000

  • Overfield Tavern Museum Restoration - $275,000

  • Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum Exhibit Expansion - $100,000
