DTCP Pop Tarts busy planting and maintaining downtown flowerpots

The Downtown Tipp City Partnership (DTCP) Pot Tarts are officially in full work mode for the season as volunteers begin planting and maintaining the downtown flowerpots that help make Tipp City welcoming, colorful, and inviting throughout the year.

The Pot Tarts, a dedicated volunteer group made up of local Master Gardeners and community volunteers, donate their time and talents each season to plant and maintain the 15 flowerpots located throughout historic downtown Tipp City. From planting and pruning to watering and seasonal decorating, the group plays a major role in enhancing downtown's appearance.

This year, the DTCP was awarded a grant from the Tipp City Foundation of the Troy Foundation to help provide the volunteers with the proper tools needed to care for the flowerpots year-round.

The grant funding allowed the DTCP to purchase gardening tools, nutrients to improve soil health, supplies to make maintenance easier for volunteers, and equipment that will help streamline watering throughout the summer season. Community members may notice a golf cart towing the new watering wagon around downtown this summer as volunteers work to keep the flowers healthy and thriving.

They would also like to thank Fox and Feather Trading Co. for creating the custom aprons for the Pot Tarts volunteers.

The flowers and seasonal decorations planted in the downtown pots each year are made possible through the DTCP’s Adopt-a-Pot sponsorship program.

The 2026–2027 Adopt-a-Pot sponsors include: Monroe Federal Savings and Loan, Community Minded Women, Indian Creek Distillery, Sue Janson, Sibcy Cline Realtors represented by Mark Davison, Lorraine Smith, Main Street Financial Group - Thrivent, Morland Heating & Air, The House of Glass, Tipp City Rotary Club, Otterbein Tipp City, Tipp City Public Library, and AAA Tree & Landscaping.

The DTCP currently still has two Adopt-a-Pot sponsorship opportunities available for organizations, businesses, or individuals interested in supporting downtown beautification efforts.

The organization also wants to recognize board member and volunteer Chris Snider for designing and assembling the new watering wagon system that will help volunteers care for the downtown planters more efficiently throughout the season.
