Hinkle Roofing helps Habitat for Humanity

Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors helps Habitat for Humanity “Rock the Block”

Employees from Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors helped to restore and revitalize several Miami Valley homes recently, working with a group of local contractors as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Rock the Block program.

Working from Thursday, May 4 through Monday, May 8, Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors employees Jim Hinkle, Matt Hinkle and Corey Abney helped to install roofing and siding, as part of restorations performed on two homes located in Troy.

“We have been blessed as a family and as a business by the community, so we are always looking for ways to give back,” Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors owner Jim Hinkle said.

“This is our first year,” he said. “We met with Habitat for Humanity to express our interest in working on some of their projects earlier this year; this was one of the areas where they needed assistance from local companies, so it seemed like a great way for us to give back to the community.”

Several of the company’s regular sub-contractors also participated in the work, Hinkle said.

An annual program organized by Habitat for Humanity, Rock the Block brings local contractors, community sponsors and volunteers together to restore and renovate a list of several local Miami Valley homes each year at no cost to residents.

This year, Rock the Block impacted a total of 19 Miami Valley homes, providing two roof replacements, one garage roof replacement, new siding on a home and garage, paint and garage siding for another home, new gutters installed on two homes. The program also removed over 20,000 pounds of honeysuckle and tree debris.

The program hosted a total of 276 volunteers, who provided approximately 1,900 hours of labor painting, replacing fences and porches, removing overgrowth and landscaping.

Volunteers from Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors provided roofing and siding installation, along with other labor. In addition to participating in Rock the Block, the company has also worked with Habitat for Humanity to install two other new roofs for the organization’s clients this spring.

Located at 467 N. 5th Street, Hinkle Roofing & Exteriors offers residential roofing, siding, and gutters, and commercial roofing. More information can be found online at www.hinkleroofs.com, or by calling the office at (937) 865-0958.

Hinkle started the company in 2017, after moving to Tipp City with his wife Lynn Hinkle in 1996.

“My wife, Lynn Bayliff Hinkle, grew up in Tipp City,” he said. “We have four adult children who have all graduated from Tipp High School.”

“The company was started in 2017 and has grown from $150K to over $2 million in annual sales,” Hinkle said. “I am the sole owner, with plans in place for our son Matt to assume ownership over the next five years.”
