Fox & Feather Trade Co. marks 10 Year Anniversary
After 10 years in business, Fox and Feather Trading Co. is celebrating its anniversary with a refreshed space and an expanded selection, including locally inspired spirit wear.
The family-owned shop, run by mother-and-son team Linda and Nick Kreider, has evolved significantly over the past decade. After three moves and the challenges of navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, the pair says they feel more grounded than ever and focused on creating a unique shopping experience for the Tipp City community.
Often described as a “boutique on steroids,” the store offers an eclectic mix of products. Customers can find everything from custom graphics and trending items like Kitsch products and Peepers glasses to more unexpected pieces such as vintage Tipp City postcards and sea turtle tracking bracelets. The shop also carries furniture, lighting, planters, artwork, and even clothing, making it a go-to destination for gifts or a last-minute outfit.
Design has always been at the core of the business. Linda, who holds a degree in architecture, brings a trained eye to the store’s aesthetic, while Nick focuses on layout and ongoing updates to keep the space feeling fresh. Their approach to opening the store was simple: “Why not?”
Even in a time dominated by online shopping, Nick has noticed a shift. “People want to put their hands on things before they buy,” he said. To stay relevant, the duo frequently travels to markets, updates inventory, and reworks the store layout to keep customers engaged.
One of their newest ventures is a spirit wear line featuring designs for schools across the region, from Springboro to Lehman Catholic and beyond. The collection includes sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, pants, and drinkware in school colors. Many items can be produced within a day if materials are in stock, while custom orders are typically completed in under a week. They also keep a large selection of spirit wear in stock for those last minute "spirit day" grabs you need for school.
Customers often ask if the store is under new ownership. It’s not. Linda handles daily operations, while Nick works behind the scenes on design and larger projects. Because they often keep different hours, some shoppers mistakenly assume he’s new.
Looking ahead, the Kreiders hope to expand into neighboring communities while continuing to prioritize Tipp City.
“We’re not going anywhere,” Nick said. “We just need people to know we’re here.”
They also believe the character of downtown matters. “Too many office-type spaces can interrupt the flow that makes Tipp City such a fun place to explore,” he said.
As they look ahead, Nick and Linda stay focused on growth-but not at the expense of what matters most. Their heart is in Tipp City and their goal is simple: to keep creating a space where people can discover something unexpected, feel inspired and reconnect with the joy of shopping local.
