Florida Niece Pays Tribute to Her Aunt Nancy

My Aunt Nancy—a woman of great intelligence, someone who was always fair, and had a heart that was endlessly giving.

She found beauty through the art of writing. She made others feel comfortable and heard. Seeing how many people sought her out for her knowledge and talent truly is a testimony to everything she stood for.

Let's not forget to mention her and our Uncle Burr's love for Halloween. They made sure no child left their driveway without a smile and a handful of candy. And possibly a good scare, too! (Naturally)

There isn't a day that will go by from here on out that I won't see a cat and think of Aunt Nancy. She loved her animals fiercely.

Aunt Nancy was passionate about staying informed and involved, and she dedicated her time to causes that made a real difference. She lived a full and meaningful life, touching so many along the way.

They don't come tougher than Nancy Kay! We are not the least bit surprised at the tenacity she has shown during her courageous battle against cancer.

I would like to note, that I believe Nancy would want to recognize her siblings for their compassionate care and help during this time, but notating, most certainly, big thanks to her sister, (my other vivacious and amazing Aunt), Connie “Spirit” Kennedy, who cared for her so selflessly over the past two years with so much love and devotion.

That kind of care is something truly special.

As you well know, Nancy did not like her photo taken. My mother, Mary Ann, (yes...another Bowman birthed sister!) snapped this photo and it shows the Nancy we all knew, admired, and loved.

Isn't that the best smile?

Signed,

Her Florida niece
