Tipp responds to Troy structure fire
Tipp City Emergency Services responded Friday morning to a structure fire on Troy Frederick in Monroe Township
At 6:40 a.m. on March 27, 2026, the Tipp City crews responded to a residential structure fire at 6345 Troy-Frederick Rd. in Monroe Township. Engine-32 arrived on scene to find a working fire on the interior of a mobile home located on a 5-acre property. The resident, an adult male, was awake but alerted to the fire when his smoke alarm activated. He quickly located a small fire near the water heater. He attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful. He made the right decision for his own safety by exiting the building and calling 911.
Engine-32 was confronted with deep floodwater across the front yard due to the heavy overnight rainfall. Engine-32 attempted to make an interior push for fire extinguishment. The fire was advancing rapidly, causing them to reposition. Vandalia Engine-2 arrived on scene and deployed a second hose line in coordination and quickly darkened down the bulk of the fire from an exterior position.
The response included: Tipp City Engine-32, Tanker-31, Tanker-32, Medic-31, Car-31, & Car-34; Vandalia Engine-2, Medic-3, & Battalion-3; West Milton Engine-71; Bethel Township Engine-40; and Troy Tanker-11. Vandalia Battation-3 held Incident Command. Tipp City is thankful for all the mutual aid support.
There were no injuries to the building occupant or first responders.
There were no hydrants in the area. A combination of a tanker shuttle and drafting out of the flood water was utilized for water supply. The tanker refill site was on Blauser Dr. near S. Co. Rd. 25A.
A fire investigator was assigned. Preliminary investigation revealed an area of origin in the bathroom along the north wall. The cause remains undetermined.
Red Cross was requested to aid the owner/occupant of the home. Complete Detail Cleaning & Restoration provided emergency board-up services. Miami County Highway Department assisted by repairing a neighbor’s gravel driveway approach that was partially washed out from firefighting efforts.
