Tipp swimmers earn sectional runner-up
It was a successful day in the Division Two sectional swim meet held at Trotwood Madison High School. While both the boys and girls sent swimmers to the district meet, the boys team placed second overall in the sectional meet, scoring 225 points. This landed them comfortably in second behind Versailles, which scored 347.5 points.
Jaxen Anderson earned a pair of sectional championships in his events, placing first in both the 200 Free with a time of 1:54.71 and the 500 Free, swimming a time of 5:01.61.
Also winning a sectional title for the boys was Ridley Brenner, who captured the 50 Free with a season-best time of 24.28. He was also a district qualifier in the 100 Fly with another season-best time of 1:00.19.
Liam Dunkle swam a 57.63 in the 100 Fly, and he captured the gold to qualify for the district meet. He was also runner-up in the 200 Free and qualified for districts with a time of 1:58.56, four seconds behind Anderson.
Gabe Esterkamp was 32nd in the 50 Free and 23rd with a PR in the 100 Free.
Julius Galbert qualified in two individual events, placing second in the 100 Free swimming, with a time of 55.04. He also finished third in the 50 Free with a time of 24.80.
Finally for the boys, the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay both captured the gold and qualified for the districts.
For the girls, Avery Anderson finished third in the 200 Free and qualified with a time of 2:01.91, then came back to finish fourth in the 500 Free with a qualifying time of 5:27.46.
Adelyn Deppen qualified in two events, finishing fifth in the 200 Free with 2:11.15 and sixth in the 500 Free swimming a 5:49.09.
Linneyah Channel swam a PR in the 100 Back, placing 16th overall, swimming a 1:28.28, while also achieving a PR in two events. Izzy Poffenberger achieved a PR in both the 50 Free (32.48) and 100 Breast (1:33.01).
Finishing seventh in the 200 IM was Jocelyn Shelton with a career-best time of 36.76, while Emily Vore also advanced to the districts with a fifth place time of 28.09.
The final two district qualifiers for Tipp were their 200 and 400 Free Relay teams, both of which took home silver runner-up awards. The 200 team swam 1:50.45, and the 400 team finished in 4:04.84.
