CAMP KERN RETURNS 2026

TMCS Continues Longstanding Tradition of Outdoor Education for Fifth Graders

Tipp Monroe Community Services (TMCS) continued the long tradition of sending Tipp City fifth graders to Camp Kern, with 77 students and 23 chaperones participating in a two-day educational adventure.

Students participated in hands-on science and social studies activities, as well as team-building and group skills exercises designed to encourage independence and decision-making. The overnight experience provides an opportunity for students to learn outside the classroom while building confidence and strengthening friendships.

“Camp Kern gives our students the chance to grow in ways that simply can’t happen in a traditional classroom setting,” said Misty McDowell, event coordinator. “Watching them gain confidence, practice leadership and work together as a team is incredibly rewarding. We’re proud to continue this meaningful tradition for our community’s fifth graders.”

Tipp Monroe Community Services extends its sincere thanks to the Tipp Foundation for its generous financial support, which helps make this educational experience possible for local students.

Camp Kern is accredited by the American Camping Association, meeting high standards for staff, administration, programming, health and safety.
