City Manager Weekly Update
Please see the highlights from this past week along with some upcoming items that will impact the City in the coming weeks.
Uptown Development – Work continues on the Uptown Development project. Chipotle has tentatively scheduled its grand opening for November 9th. Meanwhile, the City is currently seeking qualified engineering firms to assist with the design of improvements to West Main Street, west of County Road 25A. This work will include preparing plans and specifications for roadway widening and utility extensions necessary to accommodate potential future commercial development in the area. These improvements represent an important step in preparing the corridor for continued development and investment.
ICMA Annual Conference – I will be attending the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Annual Conference over the weekend and into early next week. The conference provides an opportunity to connect with local government professionals from across the country, learn about emerging trends and best practices in municipal management, and bring back ideas that may benefit Tipp City.
Evanston Road and Tipp-Cowlesville Road Closure – Beginning Monday, October 19th, Miami County will be closing the intersection of Evanston Road and Tipp-Cowlesville Road for approximately eight weeks to complete a culvert replacement project. Road closure signage will be posted, and motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize alternate routes during construction. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as the County completes these necessary infrastructure improvements.
Fall Leaf Collection- The City has begun leaf collection. As a reminder, residents are asked to rake leaves into the street approximately one foot from the curb so stormwater can continue to flow and drain properly.
Please do not include tree limbs, sticks, bricks, rocks, or other yard debris with leaf piles, as these materials can damage collection equipment and delay service. This year’s leaf collection schedule is included below.
Oct 19 – Oct 23 and Nov 16 – Nov 20– Areas between I-75 and S. Hyatt (south of W. Main Street)
Oct 26 – Oct 30 and Nov 23 – Nov 25 – Areas West of I-75 (north and south of Main Street) – NO PICKUP ON THANKSGIVING DAY Nov 26th or the day after Nov 27th
Nov 2 – Nov 6 – Areas throughout the City as needed. Areas between I-75 and North Hyatt Street, North of W. Main Street
Nov 9 – Nov 13 – All areas East of Hyatt Street (north and south of Main Street)
Nov 30 – Dec 4 – Cleanup throughout the City as needed
Tri-Cities Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements – The Tri-Cities Wastewater Treatment Plant, a joint facility serving Tipp City, Vandalia, and Huber Heights, will soon begin construction on a substantial plant improvement project. This investment will include a comprehensive overhaul of the plant's treatment processes, implementation of a new treatment method, and increased treatment capacity to accommodate future growth and development across all three communities.
This project represents a significant long-term investment in critical infrastructure and will help ensure the facility can continue meeting the wastewater treatment needs of our communities for years to come. A groundbreaking ceremony is currently being planned for November, and City Council members from all three communities will be invited to attend. Additional details will be shared as plans are finalized.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement with our city's progress.
