Tippecanoe Community Band delivers full-house holiday concert

Evening of Festive Music Delights Tipp Center Audience

The Tippecanoe Community Band filled the Tipp Center on the evening of Dec. 7 with Christmas favorites, sing-alongs and a festive spirit that drew a full house for its annual holiday concert.

Friends of Laura Diltz sponsored the music for the performance in memory of her father, Garry Yunker, a longtime fan and supporter of the band. Preconcert music by Dat Tran welcomed guests as they arrived, adding an extra touch of holiday charm.

“Garry was a cherished part of our audience and a loyal supporter of the musicians he loved,” Band Director Gail Ahmed said. “His enthusiasm for the band and pride in his family’s involvement were always evident. We felt his spirit with us throughout the evening.”

Following the performance, attendees were treated to a cookie reception provided by the Tipp Center.

Park-n-Go, Tipp Monroe Community Services and the Tipp Center sponsored the event. Ahmed expressed appreciation to the sponsors, performers and community members who helped make the evening a success.

The band’s next performance will be held at Piqua Baptist Church in Piqua on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

The Tippecanoe Community Band includes about 65 musicians. Formed in 1980 with just eight members, the band has been part of Tipp Monroe Community Services for more than 45 years. Ahmed has directed the band since its founding.

Tipp Monroe Community Services is a local nonprofit that provides recreational, educational, cultural and social programs for residents of Tipp City and Monroe Township. More information is available at tmcomservices.org.
