Superintendent’s Column
A Smooth Start to the 2025–26 School Year
I have been very pleased with the beginning of this school year. Students have settled in quickly, and classrooms are full of energy and learning. Our staff has worked hard to create a welcoming environment for all. I am especially thankful to our parents and guardians for their support, which has helped make these first weeks so positive.
A smooth start doesn’t happen by chance; it is the result of preparation, teamwork, and a shared commitment to putting students first. I would like to thank our bus drivers, teachers, support staff, principals, and parents for working together to make the first days of school such a positive experience. This strong beginning sets the tone for the rest of the year, and I am excited for the learning and growth that lies ahead.
Note of Gratitude
I also extend a heartfelt thank you to our parents, guardians, and daycare providers for their cooperation during drop-off and pick-up times at all our schools. This year, we implemented changes to traffic patterns to improve safety and efficiency for students, staff, and drivers.
Transitions like these are never easy, but patience and understanding have made a tremendous difference. The improvements are especially noticeable at L.T. Ball Intermediate and Tippecanoe Middle School, where smoother traffic flow has created safer conditions for everyone.
A willingness to adapt to new routines reflects the strong partnership between home and school that defines Tipp City Schools. Together, we’re not only keeping our students safe, but also modeling respect and responsibility for them in real time.
Construction Updates
Many of you have noticed changes around our buildings. The former Nevin Coppock Elementary site has been cleared and is now being prepared for the detention pond and temporary staff parking that will ease congestion and improve safety.
Across the district, we are also making progress on necessary facility updates, ensuring that our schools remain vibrant learning spaces. Construction is well underway on the new bus garage and maintenance building. This modern facility will better serve our transportation team and ensure our buses are maintained and ready for students each day. The new building will provide our maintenance team with a safe, centralized, and functional workspace, replacing the current run-down facility and giving them the resources they need to care for our schools more effectively.
The new parking lot on the south side of L.T. Ball Intermediate School is ready for use. As part of our construction progress, the main entrance has also been moved to this area. To make it easy for families and visitors, the new entrance is clearly marked with signage. These improvements are already making a difference by easing congestion on Hyatt Street during drop-off and pick-up, creating a safer and smoother experience for families and staff. We are both grateful and excited to see the projects become a reality for our district.
In September, fencing will be installed around the PK–8 construction area as the next phase of the project begins. Once the fencing is in place, site work will start shortly afterward.
The fencing will primarily surround the parking areas near the site, helping us clearly separate construction zones from school traffic and keeping students, staff, and visitors safe. While this will temporarily change the look and flow of the area, it represents an exciting step forward as we prepare the grounds for the new PK–8 school.
Student Achievements
Our students are already making us proud this fall, both in and out of the classroom. We are particularly pleased to celebrate our National Math Star honoree, whose achievement is a testament to the academic excellence within Tipp City Schools. Jonah McClain is one of only 102 students nationwide to receive this prestigious honor.
This prestigious program recognizes exceptional young math talent across multiple states. As a National Math Star, Jonah will embark on a transformative ten-year journey. This program, valued at over $ 100,000, will provide him with mentorship, enrichment, and academic support. More importantly, it will equip him with the skills and opportunities to accelerate his education and pursue advanced opportunities in STEM, profoundly shaping his future.
From the athletic fields and performing arts stage to academic competitions and service projects, our students are demonstrating their talent, teamwork, and commitment. These accomplishments remind us that success takes many forms and that every student has something important to contribute.
Welcoming New Leaders to Tipp City Schools
Looking ahead to an exciting school year, I am happy to introduce three new leaders who will play a crucial role in supporting our students, families, and staff. Each of them brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and a strong commitment to Tipp City Schools.
Director of Student Services – Megan Campbell
Supporting the whole child requires strong services beyond the classroom. Our new Director of Student Services, Megan Campbell, oversees programs that connect students and families with resources, ensures compliance, and expands opportunities for growth. She brings valuable expertise in student services, and we are excited for the positive impact ahead.
Director of Transportation – Kevin Goff
Safe, reliable transportation is a cornerstone of student success, and Kevin is already working closely with our drivers, mechanics, and families to ensure smooth daily operations. With a background in school transportation and vehicle maintenance, he will help us continue to prioritize safety and efficiency.
L.T. Ball Intermediate Principal – Kari Hake
At L.T. Ball, we welcome a familiar face to many, Kari Hake, as our new principal. She has a passion for supporting learners, building strong connections with families, and cultivating a positive and engaging school culture. Her leadership and experiences will help ensure that our students thrive academically and socially.
These new leaders embody our shared values of respect, responsibility, and integrity.
Welcoming Other New Staff
This year, Tipp City Schools is fortunate to welcome many new staff members across all departments. Whether they are leading engaging lessons in the classroom, driving buses to ensure safe transportation, preparing healthy meals in our cafeterias, maintaining our facilities, or providing support services, each plays a vital role in the success of our students. Their fresh perspectives and dedication are already making a positive impact, and we are thrilled to have them join our district.
As the year unfolds, I look forward to sharing more updates with you in this monthly column. Your continued support of Tipp City Schools is invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for it. Together, we are honoring our traditions while building a bright future.
