Beat rolls on for Tipp volleyball
The Miami Valley League continues to feel the wrath of the Tippecanoe volleyball team, as the Red Devils earned three more conference wins last week, sweeping Xenia, Stebbins and West Carrollton without dropping a set.
Tipp runs to 6-0 with the three wins, which opened up last week with their closest match of the three, defeating Xenia 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 behind a very balanced attack. Savannah Clawson was in control on the evening, leading Tipp with 16 kills, two blocks and eight digs to set the tone for the night. Abbi Mader added seven kills, five aces and six digs, while Lexi Luginbuhl contributed seven kills, three blocks and two aces.
Courtney Post also had a big game with six kills and several blocks while Bri Morris added 22 assists and two aces. Ava Jones contributed 11 assists, with Kaleigh Armstrong added seven, while Faith Siefring recorded 18 digs, and Morgan Sessions also had a good day with four aces and six digs. “We had aggressive serving and great attacking from the net was the staple of today's win,” Tipp coach Howard Garcia said. “Also our defense held Xenia to five kills for the entire match. It was a fun night in which many provided contributions to the win.” Tipp also cruised past Stebbins 25-7, 25-7, 25-9 holding the Indians to single digits all night.
The attack was again balanced for the Red Devils. Mader had 11 kills to lead Tipp while Clawson added nine kills and six digs. Morris had 18 assists for Tipp with Siefring leading the way with 10 digs. Armstrong contributed 10 assists for the Red Devils, Sessions picked up five digs and four aces, with Luginbuhl throwing down six kills and four aces. Blakley Barton contributed four digs for Tipp and Post had five kills. “The team controlled the ball from the start and was able to dominate from the service line,” Garcia said. “Lots of good swings and contributions from the entire team.” In one of the most lopsided games in recent memory, Tipp dismantled West Carrollton 25-1, 25-2, 25-8.
Mader served nine aces to lead Tipp, with seven kills. Clawson had her usual game of seven kills and seven digs, Post and Luginbuhl each had five kills, Siefring finished with ten digs and five aces for Tipp, Morris led with 19 assists. “The team controlled the match from the service line with 21 aces and lots of free balls to attack,” Garcia said. “(The kids) stayed engaged and played with lots of composure. Loved the many contributions from all players on the team.”
