Tipp City Police Department hosts National Night Out at Kyle Park

Local first responders, equipment, and vehicles were on display at Kyle Park on Tuesday, Aug. 5, during the National Night Out event hosted by the Tipp City Police Department.

Officers from the Tipp City Police Department joined representatives from the Tipp City Fire Department, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Premier Health Police, Miami County EMA and Hazmat and other local agencies, offering a meet-and-greet with the public during the event.

Vehicles and rescue equipment were also on display, including a 100-foot ladder truck provided by the Tipp City Fire Department, and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Response Vehicle. The Tipp City Fire Department also offered free bike helmets for children and provided the interactive Safety House display.

“Law enforcement is the host of it,” Tipp City Police Officer Will Roberts said. “We’ve got first responders, and then a bunch of community participants and other agencies such as the Animal Shelter, Job and Family Services or non-profit organizations that kind of give back; they may do scholarships or help out with clothing or things like that.”

Food trucks were available during the event, and the Tippecanoe High School Marching Band also performed several songs.

The Tipp City Police Department has hosted the National Night Out event annually for the past five years, Roberts said.

“It’s a community-building event where there’s fun and music, raffles and things like that,” he said. “We always hold it on the first Tuesday in August, so we’ll have it again next year.”
