Girls soccer gearing up for another big season

While the Tippecanoe girls soccer takes the field this season, they will have a good mixture of experience back with a solid group of upperclassmen. Also a flourishing number of freshman and sophomores who look to make strong impacts on the success this season.

The Red Devils, who opened the season hosting Greenville last night, are geared up for something this program has enjoyed over the past several years, a tradition of winning.

“It has been a great preseason and certainly been a warm one,” said Tipp coach Brent Palmer. “The girls have worked extremely hard and risen to the challenge with any adversity they have faced so far.” “Excited to be closing up our preseason, and the girls have gotten better every time they have taken the field so far.”

Palmer has enjoyed what he has seen so far in the two weeks of the preseason, and he expects that to continue and get better as the season progresses.

“The togetherness of this group is the first thing that stands out,” he said. “We have one goal and one objective with everyone doing their part to make that a reality. The buy-in with this group has been really special, and hopefully it carries us into the season.” “We are aware of the competition that is out there that we face. We have a lot of newer players who have not had those experiences, so it will take a collective group effort to make those dreams a reality.” Four seniors lead the way for the Red Devils, led by Kendall Davis, a key returning player with the Red Devils. She will be joined by Leilani Green, Ella Combs, and Jaina Drum.

“They bring great rapport and respectability to the group,” Palmer said. “They are people who the kids look up to in a big way. I am excited to see their impact on our young squad.” “Kendall is the backbone of everything we are trying to accomplish,” he added. “She is a four-year varsity starter and is interested in what the team needs, not what she needs. Leilani is a great utility role player able to fill the spots wherever she needs to play. Ella won’t be able to play after suffering an injury in the offseason, and Jaina is all in and loves her teammates. I am excited to see her role impact this team.” Juniors to watch include Isabelle Mahl, Peyton Royse, Mady Turner, Julia Burgbacher, and Macie Taylor.

A plethora of underclassmen also should contribute, including a strong sophomore class led by Maddy Hook and Grace Fultz, two returning starters from last year. Marin Dakin, Kenzie Curry, Addie Kleather, Lily Fine, Addison Simons are also sophomores expected to be counted on, along with 5-6 freshmen who could be called on this season.
