Syngonium

Basic Info:

The Syngonium is a common houseplant that is known for being low maintenance. They are often featured in mixed arrangements such as the baskets that are given at funerals. Another name for the Syngonium is arrowhead plant. They are nicknamed this because of the triangular shape of the leaf. As they grow they tend to get fuller but sometimes try to stretch or vine after a while. There are so many varieties to pick from and they come in different sizes as well. My current favorites are the mini pixie, confetti, and white butterfly. There are multiple colors that the Syngonium can be as well such as pink, green, white or yellowish.

Care:

I tend to water my Syngonium around once a week. Sometimes I forget but they are totally fine being dried out every once in a while. They are known for being on the more resilient side. They prefer bright indirect light to lower light settings. Placing it in a bright room not directly in front of the window is an ideal place for a Syngonium to thrive. Humidity would be a plus for these plants as well but not necessary.

Additional Info:

Syngoniums can be transplanted to water and will grow hydroponically. They can easily be propagated as well. Make sure to cut beneath and stick it in water. Roots should start to grow in the first week or so. Syngoniums are considered to be toxic to animals so keep that in mind when bringing it home. They can be brought outside during the summer if in a shaded spot. Just keep in mind the risk of bugs when bringing them back inside during the cold months.
