Construction Updates: Pickleball Courts break new ground, 25A detour changes, more Interchange Beautification
There are quite a few local construction projects happening in and around Tipp City this summer, so we’ll be doing occasional updates in the newspaper. For more up-to-date information, visit the newspaper’s website at www.tippgazette.com and click over to the Tippecanoe Gazette Construction Projects Tracking Map.
City Breaks Ground on new Pickleball Complex in Kyle Park
The city began the construction of their new pickleball court complex, which is being built in Kyle Park near the soccer fields. The pickleball courts will be located where the old skate park and basketball courts were before, so those have been recently removed. The ground has been leveled and gravel put down in preparation for construction of the new pickleball court complex.
According to City Manager Eric Mack, “Construction is underway on the eight new pickleball courts in Kyle Park. Work has started smoothly, and we anticipate completion by late summer or early fall. This addition will be a great asset to our park system and active community.”
Interchange Beautification Continues
Construction has continued on the Interchange Beautification Project, which began in September of 2024. New construction includes brick work on the northeastern quadrant of the project along with lots of plantings (and watering to establish the plants) on the west side of the highway.
Also, the start of the new “Tipp City” sign has been built on the northwestern quadrant and is awaiting brick work, and a second welcome sign will be built in the southeastern quadrant. We’re not sure if the signs will be lit up at night or not.
Last year, work began on the western side of I-75, with crews installing concrete areas for future brickwork, plantings and signage. Work continued on the project in September, with more construction taking place in the southwest corner of the interchange. Work was suspended during the winter months.
Detour and Road Closure updates for 571/25A Intersection
Last week, Tipp City announced more closures and changes at the intersection of 571 and 25A. This is a fast moving project, so stay tuned for updates or sign up for the city’s Alert system.
For the ongoing Industrial Sanitary Sewer Project, City Manager Eric Mack said “work is now focused in the intersection of SR 571 and County Road 25A. To complete this phase, the intersection was fully closed this week, with detours in place in all directions. We anticipate this portion of the project will take approximately three more weeks. Once finished, the contractor will proceed north along County Road 25A on the east side of the roadway. We recognize this has been an inconvenience and sincerely appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work to complete this critical infrastructure upgrade.
