New event center opens on Miller Lane

Going to the chapel means more than just getting married this summer. With the grand opening of Chapel on the Lane, owners Kim and Rick DeLong have transformed a once-empty church building into an event center ready to be filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

The venue was purchased as part of the property the DeLongs have transformed into the Dayton Metro Pickleball courts, but stands distinct both as its own building and as its own organization.

Like Dayton Metro Pickleball, however, the vision for Chapel on the Lane is simple: to provide people a space to celebrate and be in a community in an area underserved in terms of event locations. “There aren't any (venues) up on Miller Lane right in this northern part of the Dayton area…unless you're a member somewhere, or you know somebody, and plenty of those venues are rented out for a year, year and a half,” Kim DeLong said. “We opted to try and just seize the moment as far as that goes, because we have this space. Why not let people use it?”

The Chapel on the Lane boasts a bride and groom suite, banquet hall, and stained-glass sanctuary left over from the building’s previous life as the Empowerment Temple. Yet DeLong noted the space isn’t just for weddings. She hopes to host showers and birthday parties, as well as any other community needs. The chapel can hold up to 300 people and, as the DeLongs continue to update and renovate the space, may eventually provide rental office spaces as well.

For now, though, Chapel on the Lane is already greeting its community with open arms and open doors, full of space for all.

Chapel on the Lane is located at 6205 Miller Ln. in Dayton, OH 45414 and online at https://chapelonthelane.com/.
