Tipp sweeps Sidney as Henn throws no-no

The beat rolls on for both the Tipp baseball and softball teams, as they traveled to Sidney early last week. Ella Henn put her name in the Tipp record books as she pitched a no-hitter for the softball team as Tipp dominated Sidney 20-0.

Henn pitched all five innings in the victory, striking out eight.

On the offensive side of the ball, Kyla Fry rapped out three hits in the win for Tipp while Abby Chaney and Roo Snell each added two hits. Fry also drove in five runs to lead the Red Devils offense.

Tipp used a big third and fourth inning to put the game away. They scored nine times in the third and seven more runs an inning later to lead the charge.

In the third, Rylan Elms walked with the bases loaded as did Raiff, giving Tipp a 5-0 lead in the game. Fry singled in two runs with a single later in the inning and Jocelyn Shelton singled with the help of an error to bring in two more runs.

An inning later, Tipp went back to work. With the bases loaded, Emily Aselage walked in a run following a wild pitch that also brought in a run. Fry drove in a run after being hit by a pitch and Henn singled to bring around two more runs.

Elms made it 17- 0 with a hit, and Abby Martin reached on an error, allowing another run to score.

*Baseball- It was the 14th consecutive win for the Red Devils baseball team, as they defeated Sidney 12-2 last week to keep their unbeaten streak alive.

Tipp jumped in front 5-0 after their third at-bat, and after Sidney scored twice in the third inning, Tipp plated three runs in the fifth and sixth before closing out the scoring in the seventh to secure the win.

Anderson McKinney was the winning pitcher, throwing three innings, one of three pitchers on the night.

Preston Zumwalt led the Tipp attack with three hits while Harney drove in four runs for the Red Devils and Merry added three RBI’s.

Tipp scored in the second inning when Harney doubled to score Brady Liskey to give the visiting Red Devils a 1-0 lead.

An inning later, Zumwalt led off with a double and came into score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of McKinney. Merry then had the big hit of the inning when he doubled in three runs, clearing the bases and giving Tipp a commanding 5-0 lead.

After Sidney scored twice in the third, Tipp recovered those runs in the fifth. Harney hit a sacrifice fly and reached on an error, driving home Kettel and Drew Husic crossed the plate on the error, then Bryce Eckert brought home Merry on a sacrifice fly to push the Tipp lead to 8-2 in the fifth inning.

In the sixth, Tipp loaded the bases again with Landon Muhlenkamp scoring on a wild pitch and Harney doubled to bring home two to make it 11-2.
